THE MONASTERY OF ST. MILLAN SHOWS ITS CODICES AND SONG BOOKS “Codices and Song Books” uses some panels to reproduce how the desk was, how the monks copied the books and which materials they used to do it. They used parchments, different pens and tints to write the valuable books that the visitors can now see at the library of the Monastery. There are also some song books, more artistic. One of them shows the Feast of Ascension, and visitors shall hear the “Cum Jubilo” Band playing the same song. This exhibition was made for three reasons: the first one was the fame of St. Millan de la Cogolla´s desk (he wrote famous codices like the Emilanense or Los Concilios). The second reason was the relation of the monastery and the Spanish language; and the third one was the important song book compilation that exists at this Monastery. |
